Inshore Racing

Aside from her own personal sailing, Genny has been a valuable member of many inshore race teams. She’s currently serving as bowman on Simon Strauss’s Melges 24 Simplicity, and they just finished up a close 16th place in a tightly contested World Championships in Annapolis in October. They have a great team with Moth-guru Bora Gulari calling tactics, Melges 32 World Champion Willem van Waay trimming, and college sailing All-American Jane Delashmutt on the traveler.
Genny has also sailed with Jeff Ecklund on his Melges 32 Star, doing well in 2008 at the Annapolis NOOD, Acura Grand Prix Race Week, and ultimately winning last year’s Acura Key West Race Week. She also competed as pitman on board Deneen Demourkas’s Groovederci in the Farr 40 Worlds, finishing 12th in that talent-laden fleet in Miami, after having previously trimmed on Deneen’s Mumm 30 at the Miami Grand Prix, finishing 2nd to Mean Machine. Genny was first taught some of her big-boat skills by the aussies, as a trimmer on Foreign Affair, Richard Perini’s Mumm 30, finishing a very close 2nd to Pegasus at the North Americans in 2006. She took those skills as a base to Morning Light with her, and since feels that her inshore and offshore racing perfectly balance and complement each other.
